HKUST School of Business and Management Website
Project Brief
HKUST’s School of Business and Management required a modern & engaging website that reflects its academic stature and welcoming personality. The platform needed to support a wide audience demographic of prospective / current students, faculty, researchers and alumni.
The legacy site had fragmented content, inconsistent layouts, and limited editorial controls. Our objective was to deliver a flexible, accessible, and easily maintainable website that improved the university's online presence.
The Challenge
The previous site had grown organically over many years, resulting in branching structures, scattered information, and duplicated content.
HKUST SBM also needed a platform that matched the expectations of a globally recognised institution while remaining practical for internal teams to maintain.
The Vision
We proposed a user first, content-centric approach. The site should make essential actions and information obvious, while communicating HKUST SBM’s research strengths and academic leadership.
The visual system needed to be clean and modern, yet flexible enough to accommodate news, research highlights, event promotion and faculty profiles.

Redesigned Experience
A modern interface with refreshed layouts, improved visual hierarchy, and a more welcoming personality suitable for a global academic institution.
Modular Components
A flexible library of page components that allows editors to create consistent layouts, highlight research, showcase program information, and update content without technical assistance.
Improved Navigation and Findability
A reorganised information architecture that helps users locate key information faster, from admissions routes to faculty research profiles.
Responsive and Accessible Design
A fully responsive experience across devices, with improved accessibility practices and more inclusive content presentation.
Streamlined Content Updating Process
A structured Drupal backend that supports role-based permissions, approval workflows, and predictable content templates. This significantly reduced editorial friction for HKUST’s internal teams.
