HKU UG Admissions Website
Project Brief
HKU sought to update its Undergraduate Admissions website as part of a broader digital refresh. This included upgrading the underlying CMS from Drupal 8 to Drupal 10, aligning the website design with the university’s main site, and integrating clearer content structures for prospective students.
One of the key interactive elements within the admissions platform is the JUPAS Score Calculator, which helps prospective applicants estimate their admission scores based on programme-specific formulas.
The new site needed to maintain uptime during the upgrade, improve usability across devices, and support multilingual audiences without sacrificing performance or clarity.
The Challenge
The existing admissions site was running on Drupal 8, which required upgrading to Drupal 10 to ensure long-term support and security.
Content across the site was extensive and varied, with multiple pathways for programmes, JUPAS information, contact details, and exploration pages.
A critical interactive tool, the JUPAS Score Calculator, had to be integrated seamlessly into the refreshed platform without breaking functionality or confusing users.
The visual language and layout also needed to feel cohesive with HKU’s main website and its broader digital ecosystem.

We migrated the entire admissions platform from Drupal 8 to Drupal 10 with minimal disruption, ensuring continuity and long-term maintainability.

A fully functional admissions calculator was integrated, enabling prospective applicants to estimate their JUPAS score against programme criteria.

Programme information, admissions standards, explore pages, and supportive resources were reorganised into logical, easy-to-navigate groupings.

We structured the backend with content templates and editing controls so HKU staff can update programme details and admissions information without developer dependency.

We migrated legacy content into standardised templates, removed redundancies, and aligned materials with the new site structure to create a more maintainable foundation.
